About me
Born in the mystical mountains of New Mexico, taken on an epic journey from there to the wide-open and oddly named land of Saskatchewan as a child, familiar with both blazing heat and bitter cold, Lee Arthur Chane might have been destined to be a fantasy writer. But in his personal quest to become one, he’s also studied journalism in Arkansas, become a newspaper reporter, photographer and editor, written exhibit copy for a science centre, penned a weekly science column, hosted a television show, and performed professionally as an actor and singer in plays, musicals and operas.
Despite overthrowing kingdoms in his writing, he’s currently a loyal subject of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, residing in Canada with his wife and his own personal pre-teen princess.
Oh, and he has a secret identity. You can find it here.
Love your book! Hope to read more of your work in the future!
Thanks, Sanath! I’m hoping there’ll be a sequel to Magebane…keep your fingers crossed. In the meantime, you might want to check out my books under my other name, Edward Willett.
A sequel would be epic!
Terra Inseguro sounds appealing. Thanks for the heads up and the reply.
I think this book is probably the most well-thought-out, best-planned, best written one I’ve read in (quite literally) decades. And I read a LOT – thanks, Mom, for giving me the gift of reading, and teaching me the joys of losing one’s self in a make-believe land!
A sequel would be truly neat – to see how the New Republic of Evrenfels develops. I’d like to see how my new friends handle things in the future.
And of course – ANY book by this tremendous writing talent I would snap up as soon as I see it! There’s now 2 authors I am willing to pay full price for – Clive Cussler and now Lee Arthur Chane. Sir, I look forward to many more excellent books in the future!
OMG! I just discovered the secret identity – and many more books that I simply MUST have! Thank you!
Thanks, TexasJester. I hope you enjoy the books by my secret identity as much as the ones by Lee Arthur Chane. Oh, and I’ll give you a heads-up…I’m going to have another secret identity soon. Watch for a book called Masks, coming from DAW, by one E.C. Blake. Not ’til next year, but it’s in the works.
I find it somewhat sad that I first read this book in November and have only now discovered that this site of yours has a section for comments. Well, better late than never.
I had the cosmic luck of happening across your book in our normally horribly out-of-date library as a new release, on a day where I could find literally nothing else to strike my fancy but felt inexplicably averse to the idea of leaving empty-handed. So, thus, I picked up Magebane – and so help me, am I glad I did. I speak only for myself, but I feel it stands as a testament to the quality of the writing that it was one of the few books I’d found in a long time that actually, fully engrossed me, right up alongside my recent obsessive delves into Discworld and A Song of Ice and Fire.
So thank you, Mr. Chane, for the immersing read. I hope to see more from you – and your alter egos, of course – in the near future, and as an aspiring author myself, wish you only the best of luck in your writing ventures.
Here’s hoping for that sequel,
Daniel J.
(P.S. It’s worth mentioning that the plot and overall character layout of Magebane bears an absolutely astounding list of similarities of an unpublished story I wrote with a friend back in 2008. Granted, the two of us were terrible writers at the time, but it was a fun write for us and the retroactive similarities are, indeed, still there. I was flabbergasted at first, but it was a positive sort of way – the sort of way that makes me want to have the rewrite published, once we finish it, just for the sake of comparison.)
Thanks, Daniel! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m still hopeful a sequel will happen, but it won’t be for a while.
As engrossing as Discworld and A Song of Fire and Ice? I can live with that.
Thanks again!
Lee Arthur Chane
